ANZ made a profit of $1.2billion and yet their cleaners are on wages just above the minimum!
Living Wage Aotearoa has contacted 42 top corporates in New Zealand to invite them to pay a Living Wage to all workers and become accredited like the small to medium enterprises that have come on board in the last few months.
Hello
I saw the living wage segment on the internet and I was shocked but not surprised that ANZ pays their cleaners minimum wage.
I don’t work for ANZ bank but I have a huge debt issue with them when I got into financial hardship after the earthquakes. I have been trying for over one year to reach a settlement with ANZ to try and pay them back some money. To cut a long story short, I took them to the banking ombudsman when they wanted to make my insolvency worse and the Ombudsman found that ANZ had not complied with the required bank lending codes or their own lending policies. There may be others who ANZ offered money in the same manner they did me and my goal is for them to pay back to the people of Chch the interest on the money they lent people after the earthquakes. They also manipulated my uncommitted monthly income figures to justify not granting the settlement I asked for. To take revenge they harassed me so much I had to ask them under the fair trading act to stop and then they moved my debt to Baycorp and gave me two weeks to come up with 19000.00 and front loaded the debt with nearly 3000.00 in collection charges. I think living wage is a great organisation and hopefully it will stop vulnerable people from being scammed by large corporations through low wages. I do hope that one day I can be a living wage employer. For now I’m looking out for small businesses in financial hardship like myself whom I can share my wisdoms about debt collection as there is a whole lot more about the process that people should know about. Just thought I’d share that.
